About Counselor

Originally from Busan, South Korea, I have traveled the world to end up in Southwest Houston to settle and build my private practice. From my bachelor's in biology and my medical school training (University of Texas Medical Branch, 2017-2022), I transitioned to counseling to fulfill a calling for quality, professional, empathetic mental health care for the community while integrating clinical and physiological knowledge. I carry with me the years of knowledge, interest in pediatrics and psychiatry, patient-centered care, and personal experiences in the highly competitive and professional world of medicine.

I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University in May 2026. I completed more than 700 hours of counseling hours with clients at Solace Counseling and Coaching under the supervision of Mary Amanda Trost, M.Ed, LPC from May 2025 to April 2026. Currently, I am supervised by Julie Ung, LPC-S, LMFT-S, clinic director at Collective Pathways Counseling and co-clinic director at Magnolia Counseling of Pearland. I am trained in diagnosis and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders, suicide assessment and management, processing of stressors and trauma, and multiple counseling philosophies.

Counseling with me encompasses sincerity, non-judgment, and empathy where the client is the leader and controller of each counseling session while I offer support, guidance, and care. I encourage clients to tell their story freely and wholeheartedly. I desire to offer a space of comfort, safety, and compassion by adjusting the counseling meeting space and atmosphere to the client’s preferences. Establishing real, honest, and professional counselor-client relationships lasting as long as desired and needed by the client are my goals as a mental health counselor. I understand that life can be difficult, unfair, and dark; however, hope remains, so please reach out via phone or email if you are interested in counseling.
